Has Settings Profile been taken off the Market? I bought it a while ago and have just reflashed my device but now can’t find the download. Am I being daft?
August 13, 2010 - 9:00 am
Great application but how to buy if your’e in a country that does not support paid apps?
August 2, 2010 - 3:03 pm
Hi,
I’ve bought the full version on andappstore. A couple minutes ago I got an update do 1.0.18.1F – I can’t google any changelog for this particular subrelease (the ‘F’ letter) – I’ve also found the ‘L’ release. Question is – does the letter stand for the sub-release with minor bug correction or for ‘Full/Lite’?
Thanks, JN

Can you return LOCK SCREEN BEHAVER option?
It is so convenient to cancel screen lock being home. Outside i definitely prefer to have my phone locked.
July 27, 2010 - 8:42 am
I bought the full version yesterday and have been messing around with it and trying to understand it. If I were told how to set up a certain profile, I feel like I’d understand the overall app better. So… how would I set up a profile to where everything is on silent during the night except for calls and texts, while still keeping calls and texts from ringing during the day if my phone is on silent or vibrate? Ex: If it is daytime and my phone is on ring, I want everything to ring. If it is daytime and my phone is on silent, I want everything silent. If it is night time and my phone is on silent, I want everything on silent except for calls and texts.

I currently have a hammer-and-wrench icon on the notification bar (although most of it is covered by a 1 with a red circle around it)
It’s definitely Setting Profiles, but it’s not really clear what it means (the “1″ in particular).
What does this mean? 1 profile active?
July 27, 2010 - 3:06 am
This indicates number of currently active profiles. Looks like this it gives a lot of confusion to users, so we would make it optional and turned off by default. Please hold on for few days until next update
July 26, 2010 - 12:41 pm
Great app, I’ve been using it for about 6 months. But today I installed update 1.0.18, rebooted my phone, and now have a problem. The notification bar has an error icon, a red circle with a “1″ in in it. When I pull down the notification bar, it goes away, comes back when the notification list collapses. If I kill Setting Profiles it goes away, when I run Setting Profiles again it comes back. I looked at the debug log but didn’t see anything in it (like “error with so-and-so”). Any ideas how to diagnose this?
July 26, 2010 - 4:07 am
Hi,
I purchased the full version of Setting Profiles so I can put my phone on silent when I sleep yet still provide certain people the ability to wake me up on emergencies.
I want to do something like this: When the Sleep profile is active, the phone is on mute but if someone from a specific group calls me it un-mutes the phone for 60 seconds and then mutes it again. This way, in case of emergencies those people can call me twice within 60 seconds and the second time will ring.
What I did was to define a “Sleepless” profile with ringer on and set up a rule so if someone calls me from the specified group it switches it on. But how can I make it be switched off after a certain amount of time? I was unable to find a way to switch a profile off using any of the build-in actions.
July 26, 2010 - 8:02 am
Yep, currently it is not possible. However your use case is quite interesting.. I guess we might add activate for specific time period option to ActivateProfile action.
Could you please post your feature request on http://settingprofiles.uservoice.com
July 26, 2010 - 2:46 am
Hi, great app!! I bought a cheap desktop dock that I’m guessing doesn’t have the extra pins to detect dock state. I’ve used the charging on USB option as a work-around. Is there anyway to launch the HTC desire Desk Clock? Only clock comes up in the app auto complete.
July 24, 2010 - 2:21 am
First of all nice program, very cleaver way of thinking.
The only issue I have is that Bluetooth sometimes is not activated or deactivated, as instructed by the profile I made.
I’m using the latest version on my HTC Desire 2.1 Sense (stock firmware).
I’m using one profile at a time. So Home –> wifi on, BT off another CAR –> wifi off, BT on
but sometimes BT stays on when choosing Home or stays off when changing to Car.
July 22, 2010 - 7:21 am
Using cyanogenmod 6 with froyo seems time profile doesn’t activate anymore, anyone got this issue?
July 21, 2010 - 3:01 am
Would like to try lite version of this app to start with. I am running a Hero on Android 1.5. I can’t find it in the marketplace. Have tried searching and have tried scanning bar code. Both result in a not found message from Google. Is there anyway of getting this other than through the market please?
July 21, 2010 - 9:37 am
currently Google Marketplace does not show SP for 1.5 and 1.6 phones nevertheless we do support those android version ;-(
you can grab lite version from https://slideme.org/application/lite-setting-profiles
July 16, 2010 - 10:39 am
Love, love, love this program. Only thing is I have gone to Touchdown for Exchange and the app can’t read my calendar for words: ex. “Meeting” and set to vibrate. If there is ANY way to do this, it would be extremely helpful.
July 21, 2010 - 9:30 am
i can only suggest workaround – create a new google calendar and sync that calendar with Exchange one (google has desktop app for that purpose). And let SP search for events in that calendar.
Please post questions like this to http://groups.google.com/group/setting-profiles-support

I have installed today the version Full deSettings Profile and I have tried to create a rule, but when I use the option Incoming Call, the groups of my Contacts do not appear
July 2, 2010 - 12:54 am
Today Setting Profiles stopped switching profile. During night proper profile has been activated. In the morning I paired phone with BT headset (it is not included in any profile, rule/condition or action). I arrived at my work. Now “work” profile should be activated, basing on two cell locations. I am already about one hour there, did two calls, profiles are “empty” – none activated.
HTC Hero, official HTC 2.1 ROM, rooted. Setting Profiles 1.016.3F full. Please advise. BTW, it is third time, previous version worked flawlessly.
June 26, 2010 - 3:11 pm
Hi,bought the full version. I like it a lot.
I don’t know if it’s a bug but my profiles enter only when my screen is on.
For example, if i put “Night” profile between 23:45 and 07:05 then only if i unlock my screen it will go active same for end of profile. I know this because i can see the “airplane” appear as soon as i unlock or the time of a text notification that i add.
I have Nexus One running Froyo FRF50 and PS v1.0.16.3F.
Please help.
July 10, 2010 - 9:52 am
I’m having a similar issue on the droid. It’s been happening since the last few releases. None of my rules will activate automatically. I have one that turns on silent mode based on time, kind of like leon.
It never activates by itself. When I launch the app after the profile was supposed to activate, the app opens, and it’s always sitting at the “new profile” dialog box, like I clicked “add profile” from the menu.
This is consistent and happens every time a rule is supposed to activate, or deactivate.
Please fix this.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi!
Thanks for the good app, but I faced with a problem, hope you could help me.
I need a Wi-fi turns on, then several apps should be launched, like Gmail, weather, etc.
But wireless connection could not be established – for some reason – neither in sleep mode ( when display is turned off ), no when device in on.
How could I fix this issue?
Awaiting you reply.
PS OS 1.6, HTC Tattoo, SettingProfiles added to exclude list in task manager.

Is there another way to purchase this app because the app market is only showing free apps here…
June 24, 2010 - 1:47 pm
you can buy on alternative marketplaces like slideme.org (credit card) or andappstore.com (paypal)
June 21, 2010 - 8:07 pm
Is there a way to setup profiles for certain contacts… for instance, I have my phone set to ring as normal but have certain contacts that ring silent? If this app doesn’t do that, does anyone know of one that will.
June 22, 2010 - 8:33 am
Is possible. Create a rule with Incoming call condition for selected contacts and ActivateProfile silentOn action
June 20, 2010 - 7:17 am
Hello,
I have a question about how to setup a default profile. I intend to activate a default profile for all the times that no other profile is active.
The way that I did this (which currently does not work) is checking for a reverse condition for all the activie (non-default) profiles as the condition. Activate the default profile is set as the action. For some reason even though one of the conditions is not met (i.e. a non-default profile is active) the action (activating the default profile) is activated.
I appreciate if you could please let me know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks!
July 8, 2010 - 2:18 am
When tapping long on a profile, you can set the selected profile as being default.
June 15, 2010 - 3:35 am
I tried using the barcode scanner and the appbrain to install the full version – in both cases it says item not found. I would really like to install this app. Can you please help?

Hi,
I have a problem to setup a rule triggered by “Connected BT device”: although bluetooth is on and my phone perfectly paired to my device (car built-in equipment), the “Select paired BT device” dialog box always shows the error message “There is no paired device found or bluetooth is turned off”.
I have a not rooted Hero running android 1.5.
Please advise,
Best regards

There are some issue with Google Android Market currently. Some people don’t see paid version at all, some see old one. Google is notified already and hopefully would be able to fix it soon.
Not only Setting Profile app is missing, but number of other popular apps as well. Here is Handcent SMS (free app with >250K downloads) post re to the same issue: http://bbs.handcent.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1854
To raise visibility of this issue for Google you may add up to this thread: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=2156a1d8ddb8ba47&hl=en

April 8, 2010 - 2:53 pm
Great app. Been using the full version for a little over a month now.
On my droid (2.1), it seems every since the version that allows for control of the LED for notification, my LED NEVER lights anymore. Whichever way I check the box for “Pulse Notification Light”, my LED no longer lights at all for any alerts.
Bug, or just me?
Thanks!
April 8, 2010 - 2:58 pm
Further research seems to indicate that this is actually an issue with 2.1, and probably has nothing to do with Seting Profiles.
Coincidence, but seems to be confirmed in other forums.
I apologize for any confusion.
April 7, 2010 - 7:44 pm
Thanks for adding the x-out-of-y minutes feature.
One question: Is there any sort of time alignment (i.e., when do the y minutes start?), or is it relative to when the program starts? I ask because I’m going to use it to turn the radios on periodically when the phone is hibernating so I can use Mobile Defense to locate it should it get lost.

Yes, it relative to when program starts and first time check the rule with this condition.
April 4, 2010 - 12:40 am
I really do not understand the star thing and the check mark thing. How and when do you use one or both or the other? You can have one without the other and vice versa. Please explain in basic detail how it works. There is no documentation, so please help!!
Jon
April 8, 2010 - 2:10 am
Please post your future questions on http://groups.google.com/group/setting-profiles-support
Profile will change only those settings you have marked with Star. And it will either turn on that setting if checkbox is checked or turn off otherwise.
April 2, 2010 - 10:57 am
Being a pilot, is there a way to set up this application where if I no longer have cell phone coverage, it will switch into airplane mode? This would save me from having to always turn on airplane mode. If so, how would I set this up?
As far as coming out of airplane mode, I am not sure this program would be able to find a cell signal to come out, if it’s in airplane mode.
April 8, 2010 - 2:17 am
Please post your future questions on http://groups.google.com/group/setting-profiles-support
Currently it can auto switch on/off your airplane mode only if you have your flight schedule setup in calendar. You just create a rule to watch your calendar for events with some keyword and activate profile with airplane mode on.
But we might add new condition in future to detect loss of coverage and activate profile with airplane mode for that. Than with other rule which will periodically turn off airplane mode (with Schedule Period condition) you will have ability to get your phone back to normal mode once coverage will be detected.
I will create new feature idea for that on http://settingprofiles.uservoice.com. You may vote for it and one day when it get enough votes we will implement it.
March 30, 2010 - 9:34 am
Actually, the Unread SMS/Text rule is not working on the Droid. I have the keyword set up as *, and the contacts group set to any number. Then I have a notify action set to vibrate every 2 minutes, and send a notification to the notification bar.
None of it is working. It doesn’t vibrate or put anything in the notification bar when I get a text message from anyone.
I tried changing the contacts group to different things that included the people sending me texts, but nothing is working.
Please Fix.
Thanks,
Joe
March 30, 2010 - 9:07 am
Thanks for the new feature for the unread sms condition. That is the last feature i was waiting for. Just bought the full version this morning. Now i can completely uninstall the Missed Call app, and use this for complete profile control.

March 25, 2010 - 1:35 pm
Ever since the “watchdog” setting if I manually toggle a profile during a scheduled period it will overlay the timed profile over my toggled profile every few hours. I guess I need to use the timed switch to avoid this happening?
March 21, 2010 - 10:09 pm
I seem to have issues with profiles that go round the clock. If I want a bedtime schedule, is The best way to do it to set up a rule to cover the pre-midnight hours and another for the post midnight hours?
March 19, 2010 - 6:56 am
I have just install the full version. When I open the widget to select a profile I can only see half of the name. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change.
March 19, 2010 - 5:05 am
How about integrating the colors into the widget. So If I color code my profiles then when I look at the widget I know just by looking ta the widget what profile I’m running. I guess higher numbered color would win on the widget.

It worked good for 2 days but now it wont activate profile when I plug in headphones. I am using the lite version and don’t know if that’s why or not. I would like to buy the app but I want to ne sure its going to work consistently. Using moto droi with stock OS
March 17, 2010 - 11:32 pm
Not sure when exactly but somewhere since the check boxes become radio buttons, within the last few updates my Moto Droid no longer reacts to the rules. I have deleted and recreated the rules. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app (full version). Regardless what I do my rules to active profiles don’t kick in. In order to simplify thing I have reduced the single condition for a rule it is still getting ignored when the condition is met. Any suggestion?
March 16, 2010 - 11:39 am
Have set up a few simple profiles for testing.
One simply turns on bluetooth and wifi. When activated bluetooth responds immediately, wifi sometimes, but usually not. (both off at begining of test.
Created a simple location using GPS, unable to get location to trigger a profile.
I have a Moto Droid.
March 17, 2010 - 4:52 pm
I’m having similar problems with the latest version. I have a rules that activate profiles for quiet hours and cut back on power when the battery is low, and I often find both activated when they shouldn’t be.
This is on a Droid Eris with 1.5. I’ll start running a log and see what it says.
March 12, 2010 - 9:05 am
Great app. Appears to be just what I was looking for so just bought the full version.
One feature that I would really like to see is the ability to change background/ wallpaper based on active profile. It makes it very easy to see with a glance at the screen what profile I am in. This sort of thing has saved me from failing to notice the phone was silent for example. It’s also nice to have a different screen to look at from time to time.
March 11, 2010 - 9:48 pm
Thanks for adding the rule naming and colors for the profiles.
March 11, 2010 - 2:04 pm
I bought Setting Profiles 1.013.4 from SlideMe before it was removed from there.
Now the app is back at SlideMe, but it doesn’t recognize me as a previous buyer and claims me to pay again to download the update.
How can I update without having to pay again?
March 11, 2010 - 9:13 am
I am having some major problems with this app!
1. I have a Location based ‘Home’ rule that activates a ‘Safe’ profile that switches off the Unlock Pattern.
I am currently 6 miles away at work and the Safe profile still has a Green Ribbon!
However, the phone’s unlock pattern is ON (I have to use the pattern to unlock the phone)!
2. I have a Time and Location based ‘Office’ rule that activates a ‘Silent’ profile that switches the Silent Mode on.
I am at work, the Silent profile has a Green Ribbon but the phone is Ringing loud when calls are received!
(Support has previously suggested ALSO setting this Profile to put the ringer volume to zero, but if I star the Silent Mode to ‘Off’, my SP does not allow me to ALSO set the ringer volume to zero!)
3. I have a Time based rule that puts my phone in ‘Silent’ mode on Wednesday evenings 5:45 – 8:45, when I’m at a lecture.
Last night during the lecture, the phone rang loudly – it was very embarrassing!
I immediately checked SP and the Silent profile did NOT have a Green Ribbon next to it!
Later on during the evening I checked SP again and the Green Ribbon was on!
(MyTouch, Android 1.6, just uninstalled SP and reinstalled SP 1.0.14.4)
I’m trying to like this app but it’s slowly grinding down my patience.
March 10, 2010 - 8:14 pm
First off excellent app!Bough t the full version the first day I got my moto droid. This should be included on all android owners must have lists.
I’m wondering if it would be possible to add an “auto answer” feature. Let me explain my use case…
I’m always outside walking and listening to music with headphones (moto droid). The droid is usually buried deep in an inside pocket(gotta protect my baby!) If I get a call, I have to dig it out and see who it is (sucks in the winter, especially when its someone I don’t want to talk to). It would be outstanding if It could auto answer (based on the options already implemented…stared, friends etc..)
Again I cant say enough good things about setting profiles, it really is a must have app!
